The Spanish manager is very close to becoming the next manager of the “Merengue” team. – Real Madrid will have to buy out Xabi Alonso for between €15 million and €20 million and set the stage for success as early as next season.

Xabi Alonso is already planning what he will do if he becomes Real Madrid’s new coach. The former Real Madrid player, who has had a historic season with Bayer Leverkusen, will have clear requirements to take on the challenge of leading the royal blue team: reinforcement of three key positions.

According to sources close to the club cited by AS, Alonso will ask for a centre-back, a left-back and a central midfielder as cornerstones of the new team, with specific types of players to suit his tactical model.

Xabi Alonso has a plan for the transfer window

  • A left-back: The first big move will be to strengthen the left side of the defence with the return of Miguel Gutiérrez, who currently plays for Girona. He is a product of Valdebebas (Real Madrid’s academy), and his versatility and attacking quality make him a strategic choice for the wide back system Alonso has developed in Germany. Real Madrid has a reasonable buy-back clause, making the transfer easy and a priority.
  • A central midfielder: In midfield, Alonso will want Martín Zubimendi. The Spanish Real Sociedad player is balanced, tactically smart and good in passing play. With a buyout clause of €60 million, his signing will be a promise of continuity in the style of play, but with a more positional profile than the current midfielders.
  • A centre-back: Finally, in central defence, Dean Huijsen is the player Alonso wants most. The young talent has impressed this season with his ability to play his way out of defence and his physical strength – which is perfect for a defensive line that could undergo major changes this summer.

The transfer to Alonso is not official yet, but planning is already underway. If he takes over at the Bernabéu, he will do so with a clear vision: to rejuvenate the team without sacrificing competitiveness.
