There are many who claim in recent days that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is in trouble at Besiktas, but when the 52-year-old took on the job this winter at the Turkish big club, it was on the condition that he would be given time and not least a summer to build a winning squad.
The chaos was total and now it is time to clean up and buy players as Solskjaer and his new team now believe.

The goal is qualification for games in Europe this season. – 5th place in the Süper Lig, which Besiktas are down to, is now just outside.
Fanatik writes that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Besiktas have put the spotlight on two of Bodø/Glimt’s most important players. The headline is “Patrick Berg’s option in Beşiktaş has been announced! Big surprise in the transfer…” – They also write that negotiations are underway!.
Patrick Berg, son of Ørjan Berg, is a true Bodø/Glimt royal. The 27-year-old has, apart from a short trip to Belgian side Lens, only played for Bodø/Glimt. – He is the head of government in midfield and clearly one of the club’s most important players. His worth is said to be 5 million euros. The one Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to bring north of the Arctic Circle (something the Turkish media is very keen on) is Danish striker Kasper Høgh. The 24-year-old was brought in before last season from Stabæk.
- Besiktas has launched an exciting player investment with four new names on the list, according to sources from Istanbul.
- Coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is said to have given the go-ahead for the Berg transfer. Club president Serdal Adalı stated: “The coach is very interested in Berg, and so am I”, the newspaper states.
Rock open to a new challenge?
Fanatik claims that Berg himself is showing interest in a possible club change. When the midfielder was recently asked by VG about the Besiktas rumours, he replied in a measured manner:
- I have no comment on that. At least it’s not something I’m focusing on at the moment.
- According to sources, Paul Onuachu (Southampton) and Václav Černý (Rangers) are also on Solskjaer’s wish list.
Bodø/Glimt are preparing for a historic Europa League match against a weakened Tottenham team.
At the same time, Bodø/Glimt are preparing for their biggest game ever – the clash against Tottenham in the Europa League in just over a week. A double header that could take the team all the way to the final at San Mamés in Bilbao on May 21.
Although Besiktas are currently going through a challenging period, their goal is still to finish third in the Turkish league – which will give them Europa League football next season.
An eventual transfer for Berg and Høgh will no doubt leave a void in Bodø/Glimt, but also be a testament to the club’s ability to develop players to international level.
