We’ve heard the message since Amorim’s early days at Old Trafford: This is going to be chaos, changes have to be made now to remove it before next season, the plan has to be kept through adversity. Adversity has been, the only bright spot is the Europa League semi-finals. On Sunday, Man United supporters had to go through yet another sporting ailment with the coach who has “all the patience in the world” but who in less than four months will lead United in a new Premier League season. Of all the players, Rasmus Hojlund saved United by one point in injury time against Bournemouth ten men in the last twenty minutes, but another game far, far too far away from victory.

We said it last season to Erik ten Hag, we said it again when Ruben Amorim took over and sent Manchester United even further south in the Premier League table: “Now it’s high time to call Ole Gunnar Solskjaer!” The English media have realized Solskjaer’s performance as United manager was much stronger than considered, named the best Manchester United coach since Ferguson.

Before the Bournemouth game, Amorim gave a status on United’s attacking play. “We sent some players away in January and we didn’t bring in anyone to replace them. Of course, it was a risk, but there are more important things than scoring ten more goals this season. We are trying to create something that is much more important. We can wear out the squad now, but it will help the club in the future,” Amorim said, according to the BBC.

This was before the near-defeat to Bournmouth. One point does little for the historically weak place in the Premier League table. With the future already coming in four months, then United supporters are starting to wonder how on earth this will be solved with Amorim football that has only had a positive effect in individual matches.

Nor do we accept that “everything will be so much better” with some United players disappearing and some new ones joining. This takes more than a summer vacation to fix.

Then we are back to Solskjaer as United manager. This is Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United he was kicked out of:

-After 10 wins out of 13 in the Premier League and a comeback win against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, he was rewarded with a three-year contract.

-In his first full season as manager, Solskjaer led Man Utd to a third-place finish, securing UEFA Champions League qualification for the 2020/21 season.

-United in second place in the Premier League in the 2020/21 season – 12 points behind champions Manchester City – the Red Devils also lost the Europa League final to Villarreal on penalties.

A run of one win in seven games in the Premier League saw Solskjaer leave Old Trafford in November 2021, with the Red Devils seventh in the table, 12 points behind leaders Chelsea.
