This has been the big Manchester United and Viktor Gyökeres week. First it took off with the English media claiming this was a done deal, Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg made the rounds to his sources to check: There is no agreement between Gyökeres and United. Nor was there any green light from the Swede that it will be Old Trafford, it was reported.

Then came the news that the Swede only went for a reunion with Amorim if he secures Champions League play through the Europa League title. Ruben Amorim does not bother to listen to the latter.

Before the semi-final against Athletic Club, Amorim was asked about Gyökeres and demands for Champions League games to sign with United.

“If a player just wants to come to Man United to play in the Champions League, he is not going to come. We want players who want to represent United, not players who want to play certain tournaments,” Amorim replies firmly.

thanks. Manchester United have over the last ten years had far too many players who do not come wholeheartedly to Old Trafford and play with their hearts on the outside of their shirts. It has become visible when things are going wrong for the club.
