José Bordalás is currently the biggest favorite to take over as manager of La Liga club Sevilla from next season.
Sevilla have already started to shape their project for the upcoming season, and the name that now has the strongest credibility to lead it is José Bordalás. Getafe’s current coach tops the list of candidates that the Sevillian club are considering, after an unstable season in which they are looking for a new direction.

Bordalás, whose contract expires in June, can take over at Sánchez-Pizjuán without the Andalusian club having to pay a transfer fee – which puts him in a very good position.
Sevilla, who are five points above the relegation zone in La Liga, are actually with 15 points left to distribute in danger of being relegated to the Segunda División. Sunday’s game at home at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán against Leganes who are already below the red line will be decisive.

Sevilla’s management especially values the Alicante-born coach’s fighting spirit and ability to build solid and committed teams. His direct and effective style of play could be the perfect basis for returning Sevilla to European places, after several seasons marked by instability. In addition, his experience in La Liga and knowledge of the Spanish football environment are important factors in this rebuilding phase.
At the same time, Míchel, Girona’s current coach, has also been considered by Sevilla. He has had a historic season with the Catalan team and attracted interest from several clubs. However, his contract includes a €2 million buyout clause, which complicates a possible transfer significantly – especially considering Sevilla’s financial situation.
The possibility of securing Bordalás without financial risk appeals strongly to Sevilla’s management, who have already started discussions with his representatives. All indications are that the Getafe coach will not extend his contract with the blue club, and that his next destination – apart from unexpected twists and turns – will be Andalusia. Sevilla are already getting ready for his arrival.
