Watford were really all this season miles away from the goal of promotion to the Premier League. In Periods, they were actually closer to relegation than promotion. – No big surprise that the club now chooses to sack manager Tom Cleverley.
Watford just finished their fourth season down in the Championship in 14th place with only 57 points after all 46 games had been played.

Watford sack Cleverley
Watford are implementing a coaching change.
Coach Tom Cleverley has been fired.
“It’s time for a change,” says sporting director Gian Luca Nani.
Former Manchester United player Tom Cleverley (35) moved into coaching after his career and has been in charge of Watford since April last year.
“We thank Tom for his efforts – not only as head coach, but for everything he has contributed to Watford both as a player and as a leader,” sporting director Gian Luca Nani said in a statement.
“But now it’s time for a change and to build on what we believe is a young and talented squad, which has benefited from the experience of the Championship this season.
The sports director continues:
“It has been a privilege to work closely with Tom. To understand how he sees the game and his enthusiasm for everything here. He deserves to be recognized for this, and I’m sure he has a bright future in football. Tom will always be a part of Watford.
Cleverley led Watford to two consecutive mid-table finishes. This year, the club finished 14th in the Championship.
