It was a beautiful sight when Ruben Amorim sat down on the bench at Old Trafford during the Europa League semi-final against Athletic Club. That was the moment when the United manager realized the players were in full control of the situation and followed the game plan to the letter. A few days later, West Ham left Old Trafford with a 0-2 win and the lead-heavy Premier League everyday life was back. After the game, there were some comments from Amorim that should not have been taken up particularly positively by the club management.
“For me, it doesn’t matter if we win the Europa League, because the problems are much bigger than that. The lack of energy, of intensity – those are the most dangerous things in this club. You can feel it from the first minute. Between our own field and the opponent’s field, there is a lack of commitment. That is something we have to change in this club. I am responsible for it. It’s something we have to work on. Both on and off the pitch. If we can’t do that, we have to make room for other people. All of them,” Amorim said after the game.

Not exactly the defensive attitude Manchester United management needs in the coach who was touted in November as the long-term solution.
According to the Daily Mirror, Amorim’s statements have almost been perceived as talking his way out of his job. The English media describes Amorim poetically as “Red Wan Walking”, in other words, heading for the exit door, where he risks being fired, even with the Europa League title.

If this is true, the last two Premier League games will help decide the future. If there are losses against Chelsea and Aston Villa, there are no signs of this being resolved until the new Premier League season starts in three months.
