Real Madrid do not want the most winning manager of all time to disappear forever. Carlo Ancelotti, who hands over the helm to Xabi Alonso and goes on to lead Brazil until after the World Cup next summer, is wanted back at the Santiago Bernabeu.
While intense work is being done to prepare Xabi Alonso and the team for the Club World Cup that starts in a few months, Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez has started talks with Carlo Ancelotti about a return.
After all, Carlo Ancelotti has won the Club World Cup twice, La Liga twice and the Champions League three times for Real Madrid!.

The 65-year-old will officially start as Brazil national team manager on May 26, after the end of the current La Liga season.
It has been an extraordinarily disappointing season for Los Blancos, who “lost” the La Liga title to arch-rivals Barcelona. In the Champions League, they were knocked out in the quarter-finals after losing to Premier League side Arsenal.
Despite the recent challenges, Ancelotti is one of the most successful coaches of his generation and will try to revive Brazil on the international stage.
A statement from the Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) read: “This milestone moment unites two icons – the only five-time FIFA World Champions, and a coach with an unrivalled record among Europe’s elite competitions. The CBF warmly welcomes Mr. Ancelotti and looks forward to a new era of success under his leadership.” The CBF also thanked Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez for “enabling the coach’s release during the contract period.”
But now it is claimed that Real Madrid and Ancelotti want to reunite after the 2026 World Cup.
According to Spanish MARCA, this is more about a “see you again” than a final farewell between Madrid and Ancelotti.
It is suggested that once Ancelotti’s time as Brazil’s coach is over, he will return to Madrid in “a yet-to-be-determined role.”
They write: “Best of all, the parties have not closed the door. The promise of a return for the Italian after his commitment to Brazil still stands. Real Madrid want to have Ancelotti nearby, and that possibility is still open.
The 25th will be a tribute and a ‘see you soon’, not a final farewell. The team and the coach need a break. They have talked about that when the Brazilian adventure is over, he will return to the club in a yet-to-be-determined role.”
