Atlético Madrid have already started planning for next season, and one of the most exciting names on Diego Simeone’s wish list is Jack Grealish.
The England international wants a new challenge after losing his key role at Manchester City this season. A move to La Liga seems particularly appealing to the player, and Atlético – who are in need of reinforcements on the left wing following the departure of Ángel Correa – see Grealish as the perfect candidate for Simeone’s style of play.

A perfect signing for Simeone
Simeone is a great admirer of the creative Englishman, and particularly appreciates his ability to create imbalances, his dribbling skills and his tactical flexibility – all qualities that fit perfectly with Atlético’s style of play. Grealish’s versatility, where he can operate both on the wing and in central roles, makes him an ideal solution for the Red and Whites’ needs on the left flank.
Difficult – but not impossible – agreement
However, the transition will not be easy. Grealish still has a long contract and a high salary at City, who will only agree to a deal if their financial demands are met. Nevertheless, the good relationship between the clubs – which led to Julián Álvarez’s transfer last year – could lay the foundation for a solution. Among other things, a loan with a mandatory purchase clause is being discussed, which would give Atlético more financial leeway.
Atlético are not alone in their pursuit of Grealish. Several Premier League clubs, including Aston Villa, Newcastle and Tottenham, are monitoring the situation closely. But the player himself is drawn to the idea of LaLiga, and Simeone’s ambitions could be crucial in securing his signature.
The replacement for Correa
With Ángel Correa’s move to Tigres after the Club World Cup, Atlético need a new creative force in attack. Grealish would not only bring quality and experience, but also another dimension to the team’s offense alongside stars like Julián Álvarez and Antoine Griezmann.
