We really have to take our hats off to Henning Berg, who manages to keep jobs on the holiday island of Cyprus longer than most. – The Norwegian coach lasted for almost a whole year, he signed for AEK Larnaca in August last year.

It is not the first time Henning Berg has managed a club on the holiday island and with the turnover rate they have on managers, it will certainly not be the last.

Henning Berg’s period as head coach of AEK Larnaca has now ended. The Norwegian coach is leaving the Cypriot club after leading the team to cup gold yesterday. – On the club’s pages, you can see highlights from the match.

Larnaca secured the cup championship on Sunday after defeating Pafos FC on penalties. The victory came after a close game that ended 1-1 in regulation time.

The club confirmed on Monday that Berg will not continue as coach. On their website, they express gratitude for Berg’s efforts:

“We would like to thank Henning Berg for his great effort, professionalism and significant contributions throughout the season. We wish him all the best both personally and professionally,”

Under Berg’s leadership, Larnaca finished fourth in the Cypriot league this season. The 55-year-old Norwegian took over the coaching responsibilities in the summer of 2023 after resigning from his position as head coach of Swedish AIK.

Berg has a broad coaching experience from several European leagues. During his career, he has been in charge of, among others, Pafos FC, Omonia Nikosia, Stabæk, Videoton, Legia Warsaw, Blackburn Rovers, Lillestrøm SK and Lyn Oslo. His latest performance with the cup victory in Cyprus will be a fitting end to this chapter in his coaching career.
