Bayer Leverkusen worked hard to persuade Jonathan Tah to continue after ten years, and the 29-year-old has been linked with Real Madrid, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Manchester United and rivals Bayern Munich for several months. In April, the centre-back, who last season sealed the central defence to the historic Bundesliga title, announced that he will let his contract expire at Leverkusen. On Thursday, Tah will be clapped into a new club.

It will be a controversial swap, where Tah from next season will stop Leverkusen in the Bayern Munich shirt. On Thursday, the 29-year-old signed a contract until 2029.

“I’m very happy to be at FC Bayern. I want to take responsibility here and work hard every day, so that we can succeed as a team and win many titles together,” the centre-back says to the club’s website.

In other words, stop the club he served for ten years – now with Erik ten Hag at the helm – from taking titles in the Bundesliga and the German Cup.

Not surprisingly, it is a very happy Bayern director Eberl.

“It’s no secret that we’ve had Jonathan Tah on our radar for a long time. We value his class, and he’s a guy who takes responsibility. Jonathan had many offers, but he chose FC Bayern. We are very happy about it, says sports director Max Eberl.
