The Brazilian winger, who arrived on loan from Manchester United at the end of January, has been a key player in the significant turnaround of Manuel Pellegrini’s side. Although his performance in the European final was not at the top level, his contributions with goals, assists and overall impact have been crucial to the team’s qualification for next season’s Europa League.
Will not be easy to keep him at Betis
Work is already underway on Benito Villamarín to extend his stay in Seville. His current loan spell expires on June 30, but the club are aiming to keep him for one more season. Betis and Manchester United will begin negotiations in the coming days. According to MARCA, the possibility of extending the loan does not seem to be easy, as the English club wants to strengthen its finances after losing European Cup games, and is therefore prioritizing a sale.
One option being considered at Heliópolis is to buy a percentage of the player’s rights, allowing Antony to stay in Seville for a crucial year with the World Cup on the horizon. However, in order for this deal to work, the player will have to agree to a salary reduction.
No one should be willing to match the £200,000-a-week salary that Manchester United pays.
But, anything has to be better than flopping again at Old Trafford. – Moreover, Real Betis are in the Europa League next year after finishing 6th in La Liga.
