A product from Manchester United’s academy has turned down Tottenham Hotspur’s offer after PSG’s victory in the Champions League.
A former Manchester United player has reportedly turned down Tottenham Hotspur in a bold decision that underscores the value of Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League triumph.
Ligue 1 has long been called a “farmer’s league” due to its perceived lack of quality. But after French PSG crushed Inter Milan 5-0 in the Champions League final and became European champions for the first time, these opinions are changing. – Besides, everyone who has been to the Parc des Princes in Paris definitely does not have that opinion.

And it seems that Angel Gomes, a product of Manchester United’s academy, has turned down Tottenham to instead join Olympique Marseille – in the latest boost for the French league.
Gomes follows in Greenwood’s footsteps
Last summer, Mason Greenwood also announced a move to Marseille when he left Manchester United for £26.6 million. And now another former United tally seems to be doing the same, according to Alex Crook.
He wrote: “Angel Gomes has turned down #THFC to join Marseille. He has also had conversations with #WHUFC.”
This update came after a report by Fabrice Hawkins, who said that the 24-year-old had agreed to join Marseille.
“EXCL: Agreement in principle between Angel Gomes and Olympique de Marseille on a three-year contract,” he posted.
“The England international is a Bosman player and OM are aiming to finalise the transfer this week. Also followed by Tottenham and West Ham, but Gomes prefers Marseille.”
“The Phocéen team’s performances under De Zerbi, combined with their qualification for the Champions League, have won over Angel Gomes.”
Angel Gomes and Mason Greenwood played together at Manchester United.

Why does Gomes choose a club in the ‘pawn league’?
Gomes is already familiar with the French league, as he currently plays for Lille.
He signed for the French club in 2020 when he left Manchester United after his contract expired, having made 10 appearances for the first team.
The England international was immediately loaned to Portuguese club Boavista, before returning to become a regular midfielder for Lille.
And he has probably been encouraged to join Marseille by his former United teammate Greenwood’s performances.
The 23-year-old scored 21 goals and recorded five assists last season – the same number of goals and just one assist less than Ousmane Dembélé, who is a heavy favourite to win the Ballon d’Or.
PSG manager laughs at the ‘farmer-league’ label
On their way to winning the Champions League, PSG knocked out English champions Liverpool, Aston Villa and Arsenal.
After their 3-1 aggregate win over Arsenal in the semi-finals, PSG manager Luis Enrique laughed at the “farmer’s league” term.
“We are the Farmers’ League,” he joked.
“But sometimes, yes, it’s nice. I think now we’re enjoying not only the result, but also the compliments from everyone talking about our team.”
