It’s an uphill battle for the London club to secure English left winger Jamie Gittens.

Chelsea are currently in talks with Dortmund and made a first offer this week. Christian Falk reports that the initial bid of 42 million euros was rejected by Dortmund who are demanding 70 million euros to sell the player.

Chelsea’s negotiations for Gittens

Falk adds that Chelsea are now preparing a new transfer bid.

They are keen to sign the 20-year-old before the Club World Cup transfer deadline on June 10 so they can have him ready for the tournament. The England youth international has become Chelsea’s priority target for the left-wing position this summer.

According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, the attacker is determined to leave the Bundesliga.

In fact, Chelsea have already managed to agree personal terms with Gittens. The 20-year-old will sign a seven-year contract with Stamford Bridge if the clubs agree.

Gittens is keen on a move to Chelsea and is currently only considering a move to Stamford Bridge.

The German club demanded a whopping €100 million for Gittens in the January window, but his value plummeted after a weak second half of the season. As of now, it is unclear whether Chelsea will be able to reach a deal before the June 10 deadline.

If they manage to get a deal done after the window closes, they can still register him for the playoffs if they make it that far in the tournament.
