The France international recently celebrated his and Paris Saint-Germain’s first Champions League title after playing a key role in the team’s path through the tournament.
The 22-year-old was one of the most prominent players in both meetings against Liverpool, where Luis Enrique’s side beat the Reds on penalties in the round of 16.
In Ligue 1, Barcola scored 14 goals and provided 10 assists as PSG won the league with six games left to play in April.
Liverpool are also experiencing one of the most extensive transfer summers in the club’s history after winning the Premier League. Arne Slot’s team is now in the process of completing a spectacular transfer for Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz.
According to BBC Sport, Liverpool are in the process of signing Wirtz for a potential transfer fee of £114 million including bonuses – which, if completed, would break the British transfer record.
The Reds have also triggered a buyout clause of around £30m for Wirtz’s teammate Jeremie Frimpong, and are in talks to sign left-back Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth.

Barcola could be another expensive purchase for Liverpool.
Liverpool are looking for a new striker, and Barcola’s versatility – where he can play both centrally and on the right wing when Mohamed Salah is unavailable – makes him an ideal candidate.
Uncertain future at PSG
L’Équipe reported in April that Barcola was “hesitant” to sign a new contract with PSG, as he wanted to wait and see if the French giants would strengthen their attacking line this summer.
The 22-year-old started the Champions League final against Inter Milan (5-0) on the bench, but was substituted by manager Enrique in the second half.
However, PSG have no intention of selling Barcola to either Liverpool or Bayern Munich, who are also said to be interested. This is claimed by Foot Mercato, who writes that he “remains a key part of Luis Enrique’s long-term project” and that the club considers him “not marketable”.
The player is reportedly keen to stay at the club to continue his development – but an attractive offer from Liverpool could make him reconsider the situation.
