On Friday, Matheus Cunha was inducted as the new Manchester United player. With this, Amorim has in place a very versatile attacking player, now they are aiming for the pure striker. This week, United have again contacted the camp of Viktor Gyökeres, the Swede is threatening to go on strike because Sporting are jacking up the price and making a move to United or Arsenal more unrealistic. At the same time, United are running a parallel race towards alternatives in the Bundesliga.

It is not the first time United have been linked with Hugo Ekitike, but according to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg, the Premier League club are now seriously entering the race for the signing of the French 22-year-old, who this season hammered in 22 goals in 48 games for Eintracht Frankfurt.

The French striker has a contract until 2029, so Eintracht are in no hurry to sell. The media reports both Liverpool and Chelsea are very interested in the Frenchman, where the price tag is a stiff 100 million euros.

With a £73 million investment already in Cunha, it sounds like Manchester United are not exactly the strong party in negotiations for the €100 million player. The question is whether Liverpool, after up to 150 million euros for Florian Wirtz signing, can carry an Ekitike signing.

As a 19-year-old in 2022, Ekitike was signed for €28 million by PSG from Stade Reims. He never quite managed to establish himself at the Ligue 1 giants, already the following year he was sent out on loan to Frankfurt, who bought him permanently ahead of this season for 16.5 million euros.
