It has been downright sad to see how Jack Grealish has deteriorated under Pep Guardiola’s leadership. Yes, the winger must take the blame himself, but City’s machine football has never suited the creative Aston Villa captain. Grealish fans have regularly sent messages on social media that Jack needs to get away from Guardiola. We had hoped that he would return to Aston Villa, but now comes an opportunity that seems simply perfect.

Scott McTominay was brought to Napoli by Antonio Conte and “let loose” in the attacking part of midfield. For Napoli, this contributed greatly to the Serie A title, former super reserve McTominay delivered the Serie A Player of the Year award. One of Grealish’s buddies.

McTominay was never given the trust many believe he deserved at United, even though the Scot repeatedly came on as a substitute under Ten Hag and changed the course of the game in United’s favour. This season, the Scot has been absolutely outstanding, in sparkling interplay with another underrated former Manchester United player, Romelu Lukaku.

Last week, Kevin de Bruyne came in as the next Premier League player in Conte’s squad. The Belgian is considered one of the world’s best, Pep Guardiola gives De Bruyne much of the credit for City’s consistent Premier League success on his watch. For the past six months, however, Manchester City have considered the 33-year-old to be “has been”, and did not give the Belgian the contract extension he wanted. Now De Bruyne will show in the Napoli shirt that the City management was wrong.

It doesn’t stop there for Conte. According to the inky Sun, Napoli have now turned to Jack Grealish. The ball artist and football’s rock star has not been allowed to unfold in Guatrdiola’s machine football, When the City players got on the plane to the United States for the Club World Cup, Grealish did not even have a ticket.

Grealish will have to accept a hefty pay cut, but with the prospect of being able to enter the arena with his teammate De Bruyne at the reigning league champion with ambitions in the Champions League, the Englishman is probably flexible. Especially when it’s the World Cup in a year’s time and Grealish is behind in proving he should have a ticket for England.

We can only imagine what could lie in the pipeline if Grealish is released by Conte along with Lukaku, McTominay and De Bruyne. To us, the combination with Conte at the helm sounds like a real candidate for the Champions League title. Jack Grealish has found his way away from Manchester City. Just do it!
