Manchester City full-back Kyle Walker has reached an agreement to join Everton this summer.

Walker spent the second half of last season on loan at Italian side AC Milan after being deemed a redundancy at the Etihad Stadium.

However, after AC Milan has since decided against signing Walker permanently, he will return to the parent club.

Although he is technically still a Manchester City player, he is not part of Pep Guardiola’s plans and is now looking for a new club before the 2025/26 season.

Walker agrees with Everton
A recent report claimed that Turkish side Fenerbahce had made an offer to sign Walker to Jose Mourinho’s side this summer. But Fenerbahce have big challenges to beat Everton in the race for Walker’s signature. According to Fanatik, the experienced full-back has already agreed to join David Moyes’ squad after productive talks with Everton’s management.

Walker has reached an agreement with the Toffees on a one-year contract, but the two clubs still need to finalise the transfer.

The report claims that Everton and Manchester City will have to decide whether it will be a permanent transfer or a 12-month loan.

Why are Everton looking for Walker?
After finishing 13th last year, Everton will be eager to take a step forward in their first season at the new Bramley-Moore Dock stadium.

The Toffees recognise that this transfer window is crucial to their chances of a successful 2025/26 season.

They see the right-back position as an area that needs reinforcement, both due to one confirmed departure and uncertainty around other players.

Ashley Young will officially become a free agent on July 1, while Seamus Coleman has yet to extend his contract before it expires.

Meanwhile, Nathan Patterson faces an uncertain future after playing just 10 Premier League games last year.

Thus, Walker could be a wise addition to bolster Moyes’ options at right-back, although the club must be aware that his performance level has fallen somewhat in recent years.
