Even though it is formally a loan until next summer, Tromsø striker Frederik Christensen will probably not return to the “Paris of the North” – In the loan agreement with a German club FC Ingolstadt 04, there is a purchase option that the 3rd Liga club was eager to get into the deal.

Trømsø, who is in a good season and as of right now is in 9th place in the Eliteserien, has not had much use for Frederik Christensen who has sat far too much on the bench.

According to the club, the loan deal lasts until the summer of 2026, and Ingolstadt has an option to buy at the end.

Good opportunity for both parties

– This is a very good solution for everyone involved, says Tromsø’s sports director Lars Petter Andressen to his own website.

“Frederik will have the opportunity to play regularly in a strong league, and we wish him all the best in Ingolstadt.

Christensen was brought to Tromsø from Danish Hobro IK in the autumn of 2023, but has so far this year only got three minutes in the Eliteserien.

Ingolstadt – a club with history

Ingolstadt plays in the 3. Liga (level three in Germany) and finished in 10th place last season.

The club, which has previously had Ørjan Nyland as a goalkeeper, played in the Bundesliga as recently as the 2016/17 season.

The loan agreement gives Christensen the opportunity to get more playing time and develop in a professional environment.
