Real Madrid have already made three summer signings, and more negotiations will be concluded in the coming weeks. And it is not only new players to Xabi Alonso’s squad that the club’s sporting department is working on.

Contracts for existing players are also on the agenda for Real Madrid. Vinicius Junior is expected to sign a new deal in the next few weeks, while it has already been reported that Raul Asencio has extended. There is also movement when it comes to Thibaut Courtois.

Thibaut Courtois reveals that he is in talks with Real Madrid
Courtois’ current contract expiring at the end of next season, meaning there is some uncertainty surrounding his future. However, Real Madrid intend to remove this uncertainty by entering into a new deal, and the player himself has confirmed (via Diario AS) that negotiations are ongoing between the club and the player.

“I hope I can extend. I’m very happy at Real Madrid, playing here is a dream, and for every year that passes, it becomes a new dream. I am completely at the disposal of the club, and they know that I would like to stay here… and hopefully retire here. We are in touch. But now it’s time to prove it on the pitch. The rest will be solved easily.”

Courtois has been a fixture in Real Madrid’s goal since joining from Chelsea in 2018. And he will continue as the club’s first choice goalkeeper under new manager Xabi Alonso, with no signs of his level declining, despite the fact that he is now 33 years old.

Normally, Real Madrid offer one-year contracts to players over the age of 30, but with Courtois, they are expected to break this rule by offering him a two-year contract – which will last until 2028. And given his level, this won’t be surprising, as it reduces the chances of him being stolen by another club before Los Blancos are ready to part ways.

For now, Courtois is focused on the Club World Cup, where he will once again be a key player for Real Madrid. But later this summer, he will sign a new contract to stay at the Santiago Bernabéu for a while longer.
