Arsenal have Benjamin Sesko as their top target. Five years younger than Viktor Gyökeres, the Slovenian international and football acrobat is the Gunners striker for the next five to ten seasons. This is the plan, but now that things are getting tougher and a signing drags on, the level of irritation increases for sports director Andre Berta.

Mikel Arteta has long been a fan of the Slovenian, and the Gunners seemed like they would be able to strike a deal with RB Leipzig. Still, according to The Sun, talks with the player about his wage demands have stalled the process. There were also reports that the club was unhappy with Sesko demanding a buyout clause in the contract. Arsenal have not given up hope of securing Sesko’s signature, but there is still distance between all parties involved.

If the wage demand becomes too unpalatable for Arsenal, the London club will return to Sporting’s super striker Viktor Gyokeres. So far, Arsenal have not invested in the Swede, Sesko has always been the top target, but here too the Premier League club does not face an easy task. The Sporting management is in open conflict with Gyökeres and the agent, who believes the club has walked away from the agreement to accept bids of 60 plus 10 million euros.

So this signing could also end with Arsenal pulling out. That leaves Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins, who Arsenal tried to sign in the winter transfer window.

Not an optimal start to the new season when Arsenal MUST and MUST have their goal guarantor at the top.
