Manchester United management thought they had solved the Jadon Sancho problem when they sent one of the most expensive flops in club history to Chelsea – where he delivered considerably better than at Old Trafford. At a price of “only” £25 million, the London club would jump at the opportunity, was the plan. In the end, Chelsea were instead willing to pay £5 million to buy their way out of Sancho signing. It turned out that the 25-year-old still had expectations of salary conditions that made it impossible for Chelsea to defend the signing.
Thus, Manchester United are left as a continued employer for Sancho until the summer of 2026, with around £275,000 in weekly wages – for not playing. With Ruben Amorim, there is guaranteed to be no place. Then came Napoli, who have had great success in signing Scott McTominay from Old Trafford, but here too Sancho has ensured that there will be no solution for United.

Napoli’s sporting director left no doubt: “Our offer is clear and we will not pay the salary Sancho has asked for.
Clear speech, but this does not help United. Tick-thanks…
