Arsenal have made Benjamin Sesko their priority target this summer in an attempt to bolster their attacking line, but the RB Leipzig striker has significant wage expectations.

Arsenal are starting to get frustrated with Benjamin Sesko due to his salary expectations, as they try to finalize a deal for their biggest summer profile. Getting a new No. 9 is a top priority for Mikel Arteta, but negotiations are not going smoothly due to the striker’s wage demands.

The Gunners want the Slovenian goalscorer as their big summer purchase and are willing to pay RB Leipzig’s desired price of £70 million. RB Leipzig’s lack of European qualification has to some extent forced a sale.

But Sesko and his representatives want a significant wage increase, and their demands exceed what Arsenal are willing to offer. This means, as the Daily Mail writes, that the north Londoners can pull out of the deal – sporting director Andrea Berta has been negotiating several options in parallel to secure a plan B.

If they do, they will probably turn their attention to Viktor Gyökeres. The Swede is determined to leave Sporting Lisbon this summer after another brilliant goalscoring season, but the 27-year-old knows he is not Arsenal’s first choice.

Arteta and his team are also aware that Manchester United are particularly interested in Gyökeres. Ruben Amorim would like to bring his former player to Old Trafford, but Arsenal could offer Champions League football – which could give them an advantage in negotiations.

Arsenal have chosen not to invest in a goal-scoring striker in recent transfer windows, and instead prioritized other positions. But it came back to haunt them last year, when they were hit by a long injury list while Kai Havertz’s goalscoring flair occasionally failed.
