After scoring 54 goals and providing 13 assists across all competitions for Sporting Clube de Portugal in the 24/25 season, Gyökeres has become one of the most sought-after players in world football.
So far, clubs such as Juventus, Arsenal and Manchester United have all been linked with the Swedish international.
Earlier this month, it was claimed that Arsenal became the first club to submit an official bid for Gyökeres, worth €60 million including bonuses.
Recently, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Gyökeres has informed Sporting of his decision to leave the club.
He wrote on social media:
“Viktor Gyökeres has already personally informed Sporting president Varandas of his decision to leave the club – has no intention of playing for the club anymore. Gyökeres wants a new chapter, feels devastated after the agreement to leave and is not expected to return to training, as @abolapt reports.”
Now, a new report has surfaced suggesting that yet another Premier League club has registered interest.
According to Portuguese newspaper CM Jornal, Premier League champions Liverpool have entered the race for Gyökeres.
It is claimed that Gyökeres is on Liverpool’s shortlist as they look to bolster their attacking options before defending their league title.
Darwin Núñez is expected to leave Anfield, with Napoli as the most likely destination. At the same time, players like Luis Díaz and Cody Gakpo have also been linked with a way out.
In terms of new players, Liverpool have been linked with names such as Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike, with Gyökeres now reportedly added to the list.
The Reds are expected to have a busy transfer window, having already signed Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen.
