Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown uses his network to keep up with what’s going on behind the scenes at Manchester United. Now he reports that United are tripping impatiently to sign a new first goalkeeper.
There have been mixed reports about Andre Onana’s future at Old Trafford, but according to the former chief scout, the United management and Amorim are determined to swap Onana for the Premier League’s Argentine goalkeeper, where the good contact with agent Jorge Mendes should secure a transfer.

“Man United have made it clear that they want to sign Martinez,” Brown told Football Insider.
-They take what they can get for Onana, and then they contact Aston Villa and see if they can get a deal done. He is seen as a major upgrade of Onana. If Man United could swap Onana for Martinez tomorrow, they would have jumped on it,” the former chief scout continues.
-Martinez is in his 30s now, but he is a very good goalkeeper and they are not worried about it. The only problem as things stand now is that they have to move Onana before they go for Martinez, because they don’t want to end up having both of them under contract. They are waiting for an offer so they can speed things up and start talking to Villa,” Brown concludes.
