Liverpool have stepped up their efforts to secure Marc Guehi, Crystal Palace’s current defender and one of the most prominent players in his position in the English league. The 24-year-old England international has established himself as one of the most solid and consistent centre-backs in Europe, which has prompted the Anfield management to rekindle their interest.

According to information published by the Mirror newspaper, Liverpool management believed that Guehi would fit perfectly into Jürgen Klopp’s system two years ago, they believe the same in the “system” of current manager Arne Slot.

Although Slot delivered Premier League gold in his first season, Liverpool have been very active in the transfer market. The need for an upgrade in the defensive line, combined with a possible exit for a veteran in that position, has put the Palace defender at the top of the club’s priority list.

A signing that could exceed 50 million euros

Although there has been talk of a possible attempt in previous transfer windows, this time the interest seems more serious. With a contract that runs until 2026, Crystal Palace will not let him go without a fight, but Liverpool are willing to negotiate, knowing that they can secure a key player for both mid- and long-term success. Rumours say that the England centre-back could come in at around €50 million, although Crystal Palace are currently holding around €60 million as a price.

Guehi brings not only defensive solidity, but also leadership skills and good ball distribution – qualities that are increasingly valued in modern football. Liverpool are fully aware of this, and they are therefore determined not to let this opportunity slip through their fingers.
