In a podcast that was actually exciting to listen to, the hosts of “Fotboll är Fotboll” talk to Amahl Pellegrino on videophone. – The 35-year-old left winger from Drammen went to San Jose Earthquakes from Bodø/Glimt in the winter of 2024 for only 240,000 euros. Which is ridiculously low for a player Pellegrino’s qualities.
Amahl Pellegrino has played for a number of clubs in Norway, including Mjøndalen, Lillestrøm and Strømsgodset. In the summer of 2021, he signed for Bodø/Glimt after a stay at Damac FC in Saudi Arabia.
With a contract until the end of the year in MLS, there is talk about what happens afterwards.

Amahl Pellegrino (35), who has been one of the biggest stars in Norwegian football in recent years, has now revealed that he is considering a transfer to Swedish Allsvenskan.
A career full of success in Norway
Pellegrino has won the Norwegian top league twice and been the top scorer in the Eliteserien as many times. He was a key player when Bodø/Glimt broke through on the international stage with quarter-finals in the Europa Conference League and group stage in the Europa League.
Dialogue with Swedish clubs
In the podcast “Fotboll är fotboll”, Pellegrino said:
“It’s been an exciting few weeks now. I have been in dialogue with two clubs in Sweden. So maybe I’ll come there to do something other than watch the game.”
Pellegrino, who is a close friend of Djurgården’s star Tokmac Nguen, also expressed a desire to play with him again:
“Of course. We talk about it every day. If the opportunity presented itself, we would have taken it.”
Uncertain future in MLS
Currently, Pellegrino is under contract with the San Jose Earthquakes in MLS, but the deal expires in the winter. The club has offered him a new contract, but with a salary reduction.
“I’m in a situation where my contract is about to expire. They want me to extend, but with a lower salary. It makes me want to try something new.”
Possible reunion with Nguen?
Nguen himself has indicated that he can leave Djurgården, which opens up a potential reunion with Pellegrino in Stockholm.
Now there are exciting weeks ahead for the Norwegian veteran, who is facing a choice about the next chapter of his career.
