Bayern Munich have reportedly made contact with Liverpool striker Luis Díaz regarding a potential summer transfer.

The Colombian international still has two years left on his contract at Anfield, but it is uncertain whether he will stay at the club until the 2025/26 season. Díaz has previously been linked to:

  • A transfer to Saudi Arabian Al-Nassr
  • FC Barcelona, who now focus on Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams

According to recent reports, Bayern Munich has now emerged as a new, serious stakeholder.

Bayern takes concrete steps

According to Bild, Bayern’s sporting director Max Eberl has made direct contact with Díaz’s representatives to discuss a move to the Allianz Arena this summer.

In the conversation, it was also discussed:

  • Salary and personal terms
  • The club’s plans for the player

Bayern’s interest has increased after losing other goalkeepers:

  • Nico Williams looks set to stay in Spain with Barcelona
  • Jamie Bynoe-Gittens (Dortmund) is close to a move to Chelsea

Rashford also on Bayern’s radar

In addition to Díaz, Bayern are also considering Marcus Rashford as a possible solution on the left wing.

Rashford recently returned to Manchester United after a loan spell at Aston Villa, who did not take advantage of the £40 million purchase clause.

The 27-year-old is not part of United manager Ruben Amorim’s plans, but Bayern appear to have him on a “long-term list” rather than as a number one priority.

Now what for Díaz?

With Bayern Munich being a serious buyer, the transfer speculation could now accelerate. Liverpool will have to decide whether to keep him or go for a big transfer fee.

Díaz, who has been a key player for Liverpool since his arrival in 2022, thus faces an important decision about his future career.
