After the first match in a Real Madrid shirt last month at the Club World Cup, Liverpool supporters warned the La Liga giant: “Now you see what a problem you have signed”. Three games later, Trent Alexander-Arnold has impressed one of the world’s best goalkeepers.
First to hurt and disappointed Liverpool supporters who have not forgiven that “their” Trent chose shitloads of money and Real Madrid over Liverpool, the club that had lifted the right-back into stardom.

Here are some of the comments Liverpool supporters made after his debut at Real, where Alexander-Arnold was involved from the start, but was brought to the bench after 65 minutes. At the time, the former Liverpool star had been completely anonymous:
“Get rid of it! Konate and Salah don’t have to look after Trent’s unsteady defending anymore. They carried him for years. Now Real Madrid fans want to see what responsibility they have signed. Hope that £1 billion clause feels worth it when he gets scammed every week!”
“Well… they obviously haven’t seen Trent play before then! … they have to reduce his defensive shortcomings to get the best out of him with the ball – otherwise he will be a huge burden for Real Madrid.”
“Trent is still a big burden in defence, that’s not even the problem. Back at Liverpool, Szobo, Konate, Macca cover up his defensive problems. This Madrid team doesn’t play collective football, who will cover most of the time for him?”
“La liga is going to eat Trent alive, and I can’t wait to see it.”
Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has a different opinion of Alexander-Arnold after a few weeks together on the training ground.
“He’s ‘terrible’ in training. His posts are amazing. So are his free kicks and corners. As a goalkeeper, it keeps me on my toes. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a player with that kind of quality,” the Real goalkeeper told DAZN.

Which does not share annoyed Liverpool supporters’ “concern” about the defensive work of the right-back. Then we will see if La Liga “will eat Trent alive”, or if it will be the opponents’ defense and goalkeepers who will be “the eaten”.
