The 21-year-old has already made 90 first-team appearances for Valencia, sources “close” claim Mosquera has rejected Valencia’s offer of a new contract, signalling his desire to take the next step in his career with a move to the Premier League and specifically Mikel Arteta’s project at Arsenal.

Mosquera’s current deal runs until 2026, but Valencia are under pressure to cash in on their most valuable asset to avoid the risk of losing him for free next year.

Arsenal have previously made a bid of 14 million euros, which was quickly rejected by Valencia. Now the Gunners are prepared to come back with a bid of 20-25 million euros. Personal terms between Mosquera and Arsenal have already been agreed, so this is going Arsenal’s way.

For Arsenal, this will be very important depth in central defence. With title ambitions in the Premier League, Champions League and cups, the club must secure back-up solutions such as the Spanish U21 international Mosquera.
