Viktor Gyökeres is reportedly willing to leave Sporting CP on loan if his planned move to Arsenal falls through this summer.

The Swedish international wants to complete a grand transfer to the Emirates Stadium, and Mikel Arteta’s side are in talks with Sporting to finalise a deal soon.

Negotiations are underway for a transfer fee
Arsenal are willing to match Sporting’s target price of €80 million, but want to pay a starting fee of €65 million. However, the Portuguese champions insist that Gyökeres will not be sold unless they receive a guaranteed sum of 70 million euros.

Gyökeres has sacrificed salary funds
Gyökeres has already given up 2 million euros in salary in order to become an Arsenal player this summer. According to Fabrizio Romano, he has also sent several private messages to Sporting president Frederico Varandas to push through a move to north London.

Plan B ready if Arsenal deal fails
According to Portuguese Record, Gyökeres has now laid out a “Plan B” strategy. They claim that he is willing to leave Sporting on loan for the 2025/26 season if Arsenal fail to reach a deal.

He has reportedly decided that he will never play for the club again, and the Record (via The Daily Mail) reports that Fenerbahçe will consider a sensational loan deal if negotiations with Arsenal break down.

Arsenal still in the strongest position
Although Gyökeres has made a secondary plan, Arsenal are still determined to sign him. The Guardian reports that Arteta wants to complete the transfer before the team goes on the Asian tour on July 19.

Goal thief with impressive stats
Gyökeres has scored 97 goals in 102 appearances for Sporting CP since his transfer from Coventry City in 2023. He is seen as a player who can help Arsenal to their first major trophy in five years.
