Theatre of Dreams. Manchester United icon Bobby Charlton called Old Trafford the theatre of dreams. A nickname that fit well with Alex Ferguson screaming and splashing red along the sidelines. Less appropriate in the last ten years+. Last season came the definitive low point with “near-relegation” and 15th place in the Premier League. Soon just a month left before the start of the season, there are warnings against another season of “Theatre of Nightmares” for United.
So far, only Matheus Cunha is in place, in addition to an 18-year-old from Paraguayan’s Cerro Porteno. Not exactly much to cheer about, already in the pre-season. Paul Parker wore the Manchester United shirt to two Premier League titles, now the former United player is worried about what is happening at his old club.

Parker warns INEOS owners that the negative atmosphere around Old Trafford will only worsen if it continues to “have all the time in the world” in the recruitment department.
“For Man Utd to be able to compete against anyone and not disappoint themselves, they need at least four more signings. They can’t continue where they are now, because then they start next season with continued negativity in the dressing room and among the fans. It became a “Theatre of Nightmares” towards the end of last season, says a worried Parker according to Goal.
Four signings that make a difference. Soon only four weeks left until the start of the season.
According to The Athletic, United are having trouble raising extra funds for new signings through player sales. Amorim wanted the quartet of Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho and Antony to be sold before pre-season started, but United have yet to find any potential suitors willing to match the players’ wage demands.

As it stands, Amorim is still working with a squad largely composed of his predecessor, Erik ten Hag, and it remains to be seen if he will have the resources to rebuild his team’s squad. Paul Parker is worried.
