Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang would have been world champion if he had chosen to play for his second native France, the 36-year-old who made his definitive breakthrough in manager Jürgen Klopp at Borussia Dortmund before moving on to Arsenal in 2018.

A year ago, he made the choice to get the big money with a move from Marseille to Saudi Arabia where he has delivered “fantastic performances” by the standards in the desert league.

Now he wants to go home again!

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang wants to return to European football to compete at the top level again and it looks like that could happen at the club he left a year ago.

Marseille in talks about Aubameyang
Olympique de Marseille have taken the initiative to secure the services of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and the player can return to the French league after an outstanding season in Saudi Arabia. The 36-year-old attacker has shown that he still has a lot to contribute, having scored 21 goals and provided 3 assists in 36 games for Al Qadsiah.

Aubameyang wants to return to top-flight football
The southern French club, now led by Roberto De Zerbi, wants to strengthen the squad with experienced players who can bring both leadership and quality. In this context, Aubameyang’s potential return to Ligue 1 has gained momentum. According to MundoDeportivo, the former Borussia Dortmund, Arsenal, Barcelona and Chelsea player has retained his goalscoring flair and attacking precision – qualities the Italian coach values in order to build an ambitious team.

Experience from French football
This will not be the first time Aubameyang plays in France. He made a name for himself during his stay at Saint-Étienne, where he first established himself in top-flight football, as well as a spell at Marseille last season. Now, with a far more experienced profile, his return could provide just the extra boost of quality Marseille needs to challenge both nationally and in Europe.

Negotiations are already underway, and if all goes as planned, the Stade Vélodrome could soon see one of the decade’s most feared attackers in action again.
