Stefano Pioli led AC Milan to great success between 2019 and 2024. In the last three seasons, Pioli brought home the league title, then fourth place, then second place. In addition, semi-finals in the Champions League. In the season after the exit, the proud Milan club sank to a frighteningly weak 8th place and out of action in Europe the following season. Pioli also had no success after the exit, in May it was fired at Ronaldo’s club in the Saudi Arabian league. Now the coach is making an exciting choice.

Manchester United legend David de Gea took a big pay cut and signed with Fiorentina before the 2024/25 season. This turned out to be a wise choice for all parties. The goalkeeper stood rock solid as one of Serie A’s best, Fiorentina secured 6th place in Serie A and the Conference League ticket.

This is with Piolo screaming and gesturing along the sidelines. Because on Saturday, Fiorentina announced they have hired Piolo as their new coach.

Piolo managed the club from 2017 to 2019, before later moving on to AC Milan. Previously, Piolo has also managed Inter Inter, Lazio and Bologna.

With Piolo at the helm, Fiorentina will be a force to be reckoned with in Serie A this season – and the Conference League.
