The details of the spectacular deal Luis Díaz has struck with Bayern Munich have come to light, while it is reported that Liverpool are picking up the pace in their search for a replacement worth €90 million.

Díaz, 28, wants to leave Liverpool this summer and has informed the club of his decision. After losing Florian Wirtz and seeing Jamal Musiala injured, Bayern Munich have launched an operation.

Bayern increase pressure – Díaz agrees on salary

The Bundesliga champion has already had a bid of €67.5 million rejected. Liverpool stressed that Díaz was not for sale, but Bayern are not giving up.

According to Sky Germany, Bayern immediately made a new and improved bid, while BILD now reports that a breakthrough has been made with the player. They state that Díaz and Bayern have signed a four-year deal worth as much as 14 million euros per year.

That equates to a weekly salary of around £230,000, and the salary could increase further with performance-based allowances.

One of the main reasons why Díaz wants to leave Liverpool is dissatisfaction with his salary at Anfield. His original salary of £55,000 per week has increased over time, but it is still far below what Bayern have now offered.

Now it remains to find an agreement between the clubs. BILD reports:

“There are signs that things are moving forward, and concrete negotiations could start soon. A meeting between Bayern’s management and Liverpool’s representatives is also expected.”

Liverpool are chasing a replacement superstar

Liverpool will only sell Díaz if they can secure a worthy replacement on the left wing. talkSPORT reports that the club have held preliminary talks with Real Madrid about a transfer for Rodrygo.

The Brazilian, who is described as “willing to leave”, is ready to leave Madrid after being sidelined since Kylian Mbappé’s arrival a year ago. Rodrygo was often scrapped last season when Carlo Ancelotti prioritized an extra midfielder, and new manager Xabi Alonso put him on the bench five games in a row in the Club World Cup.

Real Madrid are open to a sale of around €90 million (£78 million). Arsenal have shown interest, but their pursuit of Noni Madueke has raised questions about whether they will go for Rodrygo as well.

Thus, Liverpool are in the driver’s seat, and according to AS journalist Edu Burgos, the chances of a deal increase:

“It’s real. Liverpool have already held talks with his representatives. They sent an envoy to Madrid to talk to his family, and Rodrygo is pleased with the interest. He is open to a change – he has always liked the Premier League. Two summers ago, even Manchester City tried to sign him. Guardiola called him several times. He appreciated it, but preferred to stay in Madrid. Now the preferences have changed.”

“I think he wants to leave because he wants to be the star of the team, and it will be very difficult – almost impossible – in Madrid. I would say it’s 70-30 for a departure. Liverpool can make an offer.”

Also attack needs after Jota’s death

Liverpool will only sell Díaz if they find a proper replacement. They are also working on a deal for Hugo Ekitiké, but he is a striker and his arrival alone will not open the door for a Díaz sale.

The club is also without a natural replacement for Diogo Jota, who tragically passed away earlier this year. Darwin Núñez is also expected to be sold, so a new winger is essential.

Rodrygo could therefore be the key to freeing up Díaz – and giving Liverpool the creative spark they need.
