Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has admitted that more signings are needed before the transfer window closes, despite four new players having already arrived at the Emirates Stadium this summer.
Looking for more reinforcements
The Gunners have spent a whopping €142.8 million on the signings of Martin Zubimendi, Noni Madueke, Christian Nørgaard and Kepa Arrizabalaga so far, but the club is still very active in the market.

Arsenal are in intensive negotiations with Sporting CP to finalise payment terms for Viktor Gyökeres, while they are on the verge of signing Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera for a starting fee of €15 million.
In addition, the north London club are showing interest in both Eberechi Eze and Rodrygo. Arteta has confirmed that he is pushing the club to bring in more reinforcements as he chases his first major title since 2020.
Arteta: “We are too few players”
“There is still a long time left in the window and we are still looking for opportunities,” the Arsenal boss said during a press conference in Singapore. “When it comes to the number of players, we are too sparsely staffed and need to improve both the breadth and quality of the squad.”
“We follow the market continuously. Until something happens, we focus on the players we have – and I’m very happy with what I’ve seen in the last 10-15 days.”
“Ideally, you want to have players ready from day one of pre-season. I think we have done very well so far, and am very pleased with how the club has supported the needs and improvements we requested. Andrea [Berta, Arsenal’s sporting director] and the team have done an excellent job of pushing forward.”
“There is a lot of time left in the window, but we still have hope to improve the team and will continue to work for it.”
Arteta praises the new signings
Although he wants more new faces, Arteta expressed great satisfaction with the four players he has already brought in:
“It’s like shaking the tree all over again. New faces bring new excitement and energy. We have signed very important players. Everyone feels that expectations need to be taken to a new level, and that’s what we strive for.”
Impending debuts
Zubimendi, Nørgaard and Kepa could all make their Arsenal debuts against AC Milan on Wednesday, but Madueke will not feature after his efforts in the Club World Cup with Chelsea.
What now?
With Gyökeres, Mosquera and possibly more on the way in, it looks like Arsenal will be pushing hard to challenge for titles in the 2025/26 season. Will this be the year the Gunners finally break the trophy thirst?
