It is a fantastic player who now lands at Old Trafford, but he comes with a price tag that clearly shows that Manchester United can no longer pick and choose players because of their sporting performances. The last two seasons were both the worst in modern history and without games in Europe, everyone thinks twice before signing.

Bryan Mbeumo is worth €55 million, according to Transfermarkt, now cheques are being sent to Brentford for much more than that, after some very tough rounds of negotiations.

Manchester United have completed the signing of Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford in a deal worth £71 million, almost €82 million. (27 million euros above estimated value)

Key details about the transition:

  • Transfer fee: £65 million + 6 million in bonuses
  • Contract: Until June 2030 (with an option of +1 year)
  • Debut opportunity: July 26 against West Ham in the Premier League Summer Series

Bryan has been given the number 19 shirt, which he also wore for both Brentford and Troyes, and also wore it regularly for his nation Cameroon.

The dream comes true

The 25-year-old Cameroonian told Manchester United’s website:
“As soon as I found out there was a chance to join Manchester United, I had to seize the opportunity to sign for my childhood club. My mentality is always to be better than yesterday. I know I have the character to reach a new level here under Ruben Amorim and alongside world-class players.”

Bryan Mbeumo thanks everyone in Brenford on social media: 6 years which felt like 6 minutes.

It’s time to take off and leave Bee Planet. But before I leave, I want to thank you all.

The board, coach Thomas Frank, with whom I had a special bond from the start, the entire staff, all my teammates, all the people who work in the shadows, in the office, in the gym and at Gtech, and of course I want to thank you, the fans, for your amazing support no matter what and for every game. You all made me feel at home from day one, and I will never forget it.

It was an incredible journey full of emotions, smiles, laughter, and you made every moment very special. You will always have my heart. 🤍

We meet again in this dimension and in the others.

Sporting management excited

United’s sporting director Jason Wilcox added:
“Bryan’s goal and assist record in the Premier League is exceptional. His belief in our project and willingness to join confirmed that he is perfect for Manchester United and the culture we are building.”

Now what?

Mbeumo, who scored 20 Premier League goals for Brentford last year, will:

  1. Travel with the team to the United States on Tuesday for pre-season
  2. Potential debut against West Ham on July 26
  3. Participate in the showdown against Bournemouth and Everton in the United States
  4. Last friendly against Fiorentina on August 9

After making one of the biggest signings of the summer, Manchester United are clearly showing that they are serious about strengthening their attack under Amorim. With Mbeumo’s impressive stats and passion for the club, this could be one of the most exciting transfers of the year.
