The player, who four years ago wore the Danish Velje Boldklubb shirt on loan, will land this summer at Premier League champions Liverpool. The 23-year-old Hugo Ekitike, still without any games for his national team, is the striker Premier League clubs have now fought hard for. To us, this sounds like a real football’s “Cinderella story”.
Liverpool are paying a total of up to €90 million for the Eintracht Frankfurt striker. An insane sum, but when we hear what a push it has been to sign the former Reims and PSG player, it is clear that there is something very special about this Frenchman.

The Athletic journalist David Ornstein gives a summary of the last month’s activity.
“Newcastle have tried to sign him two or three times, and Manchester United pressed on last week. At that point, however, he had already decided to move to Liverpool,” Ornstein told Sky Sports.
PSG did not see the potential in the striker, who ended up with 33 games and 4 goals. Eintracht tested Ekitike on loan from February 2024, a few months later they pressed the buy option button for a €16.5 million signing. Then came the 2024/25 season with 22 goals in 48 games. Over the course of a year, Liverpool, Manchester United and Newcastle fought for signing, with the reigning Premier League champions walking away with the victory costing up to €90 million.
A special story. What should be added is the height of the expectation list when the Frenchman pulls on the Liverpool shirt in the world’s toughest league in front of English journalist vultures. It does not take into account background. Here it must be delivered from the first match. Darwin Nunez asks.
