Brentford have this month sold their captain to Arsenal and recently top scorer Bryan Mbeumo to Manchester United. The London club pulled out around £70 million from Manchester United, Tottenham had to pay around £10 million for successful coach Frank, and show they can’t be drained of the biggest resources without it costing the giants. Now it’s Newcastle who are trying.

Newcastle made two or three bids for striker Hugo Ekitike, but it didn’t help much. The Eintracht Frankfurt star wanted to go to Anfield, Liverpool were willing to fork out around 80 million euros to make the transfer possible. For Eddie Howe and the gang at St. James’ Park, this has meant the next name on the wish list that is within budget: Brentford’s Yoane Wissa.

According to The Athletic, Newcastle, who still haven’t secured Alexander Isak’s stay, have fired off a £25m bid for the Brentford striker with a solid 19 Premier League goals last season. Here, it didn’t take many minutes before the answer came: Refused!

Brentford made a good profit by exploiting Manchester United’s desperation to sign a player who actually scores in the Premier League. According to the English media, the London club are demanding twice as much for Wissa – of the bid Newcastle were rejected.

The BBC reports on Tuesday Wissa left Brentford’s training camp to return to England, so something is going on (Nottingham Forest also involved). The only sure thing is that Brentford will be very well paid if it ends up being sold.
