The versatile Nigerian wing-back Uba Charles (23) has signed for Aalesund. He takes over jersey number 14 and has signed a contract that binds him to the club until 2027.

Charles has solid experience from the Eliteserien through his time in Lillestrøm, and in 2025 helped win the Allsvenskan with Mjällby. He is described as fast, strong in the duel game, and someone who can contribute on both sides of the ball along the edge.

Now he is looking forward to new challenges in Sunnmøre.

“It feels good. It’s a very good feeling,” Charles says right after the transfer.

He joined LSK as a 19-year-old in the winter of 2023, after having impressed greatly for Ljungskile in Sweden. Now, two years later, he is ready for a new chapter in his career.

However, the 23-year-old is not the type to use many words for himself:

“I prefer to show what I can do on the pitch. I’m not too fond of describing myself in front of a microphone or a camera. I’m not really that fond of talking about myself,” he says.

Uba has already had time to train with AaFK for a while, and he has got a good impression of both the city and the club.

“It’s a very nice city, and the club is very warm and has welcomed me well. Now I’ve trained here a bit, and the players are very decent. It feels like a family here. It’s very nice to come to such a culture. It helps you perform,” he explains.

Head coach Kjetil Rekdal is very pleased to have Charles in place before an important away game against Start.

“Uba is a fast all-rounder with good experience. He can play on both sides as a wing-back and is good one-on-one, both offensively and defensively. We are looking forward to getting him into the squad now before the away game against Start, says Rekdal.

Already this afternoon, Charles gets on the plane to join the rest of the team.

“I’m traveling by plane soon, and meet the rest of the team tonight. I’m very ready for the match against Start and can’t wait to get started! he concludes.
