Gennaro Gattuso has played most of his career for AC Milan, he became one of the world’s very best (and toughest) midfielders while Carlo Ancelotti was manager of the Serie A club. Gattuso’s leadership style is heavily inspired by Ancelotti, who is now the national team manager for Brazil.
Gennaro Gattuso played for Italy while they were still good and won the World Cup in 2006.
Gattuso took over Hajduk Split in the summer of 2023 and led the team to a third-place finish in the Croatian league. He has previous experience as a coach for clubs such as Marseille, Valencia, Napoli, Milan, Pisa, OFI Crete and Palermo.

Hajduk Split and Gattuso go their separate ways
HNK Hajduk writes on their website that they have entered into a mutual agreement of dismissal with coach Gennaro Gattuso, who is leaving Poljud along with his assistants Luigi Riccio, Roberto Perrone, Bruno Dominici, Dino Tenderini and Marco Sangermani.
The Italian coach took over the first team on June 12, 2024 and led the team in preparation for the new season.
Gattuso made his debut on the Hajduk bench with a win against HB Tórshavn at Poljud, and ended his tenure with a win against Šibenik at Šubićevac in the last league round.
Under his leadership, “The Whites” finished in 3rd place in SuperSport HNL, and they were eliminated from SuperSport Hrvatskog nogometnog in the quarterfinals.
In total, Gattuso led Hajduk in 43 official matches, with a record of 20 wins, 14 draws and 9 losses. During this time, he used 37 different players.
Coach, we thank you for everything and wish you all the best in both life and the future of your coaching career!
