Ademola Lookman has become one of the biggest success stories at Atalanta in recent seasons, but now the Nigerian star could be ready for a new challenge. According to Calciomercato, the Italian club are willing to listen to bids for him this summer – but they expect a significant sum to let him go.

Price tag of at least €55 million

Sources claim that Atalanta will look at €55 million as a minimum bid to consider a sale. This underlines how important Lookman has been to the club, who themselves paid just €7 million to sign him from RB Leipzig in 2022.

The 27-year-old has delivered a strong season in Serie A with 13 goals and 5 assists in 32 games. He has been a key player in Gian Piero Gasperini’s attack-oriented system, where his speed, technique and finishing have caused major problems for opponents.

But it has not been entirely problem-free. Lookman has had some minor conflicts with the coaching staff, including over playing time and tactical role. This, combined with the fact that he is now approaching the peak age of a winger, could be the reason why Atalanta are willing to sell.

Which clubs might be interested?

  • Premier League loop: Lookman has previously played for Everton, Fulham and Leicester, and several English clubs may see him as a cheaper alternative to more established stars.
  • German and Spanish interest: Bundesliga clubs such as RB Leipzig or Bayer Leverkusen could be relevant, while La Liga clubs have also followed him.
  • Saudi prospect: If a big bid comes from the Middle East, it could be difficult for Lookman and Atalanta to say no.

If Lookman leaves, the club will lose one of its most creative and prolific attacking players. However, with a potentially large sum of money on the table, they can use the funds to bolster their team in more positions.
