Lookman is ready to leave Atalanta, but the management does not give in, and tensions rise.

Ademola Lookman is experiencing tense times at Atalanta. The Nigerian winger, who has been a key player for the team in recent seasons, is nearing a departure, but the transfer does not go smoothly. Inter Milan are very interested in signing him and have made an offer that fulfills what the club from Bergamo previously promised the player. Nevertheless, Atalanta, despite the previous agreement, has chosen to put an end to the operation.

Lookman on the brink: Departure from Atalanta complicated despite Inter’s offer
According to Lookman himself, the club assured him that they would let him go without problems if a fair offer came. “Many clubs have shown interest in me in the past, and I always chose to stay out of loyalty. But both the club and I agreed that if a fair offer came, they would let me go,” the footballer wrote in an open letter on his Instagram account. Now he feels disappointed because the management has not kept his promise, and he has had to ask for a formal transfer.

The player also emphasized that he never wanted it to come to this. According to him, he has always tried to act with respect, where the club and the supporters have been first. His desire was to find an amicable solution, but after what he considers “broken promises”, he sees no other way than to make the situation public.

Lookman has been instrumental in Atalanta’s recent success, including the historic victory in the Europa League. Therefore, many supporters do not understand why the club is hesitant to negotiate with Inter, especially when there was already a verbal agreement in place.

Now the ball is in the management’s hands. Lookman has made it clear that he wants to leave and believes he deserves it. It remains to be seen if Atalanta will change their minds, or if the situation becomes even more complicated. One thing is for sure: the Nigerian striker’s future seems to lie somewhere other than Bergamo.
