Angelique Kerber is a German tennis player of Polish origin, who was once one of the best tennis players in the world. Kerber is the winner of three Grand Slam singles tournaments – Australian Open 2016, US Open 2016 and Wimbledon 2018. She is also a silver medalist of the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in singles and former leader of the WTA world ranking. On February 25, 2023, she gave birth to a daughter. Now she announces her return to the game. What’s more, Kerber will play later this year.
Kerber played her last match in July 2022. Then she focused on preparing for the role of a mother and giving birth. However, a few months ago, in June, the German announced that she wanted to return to the court in 2024. Then the German admitted that her goal was to qualify for the Olympic Games in Paris. Now it appears that Kerber will return to the game later this year. The German will play in the United Cup team tournament starting at the end of December. This information was confirmed by the tournament organizers during the presentation of the national teams of the countries participating in the event. Kerber was the first player in the German squad.
