“agreed on terms” with Genk striker in place before potential deal worth 20 million euros, while speculation around Jørgen Strand Larsen continues

Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly making an attempt to sign a player who could be seen as a replacement for Jørgen Strand Larsen.

The Norwegian international showed his worth on Tuesday night when he came off the bench and scored two goals in a 3-2 win over West Ham United in the second round of the EFL Cup. Nevertheless, speculation continues that the 25-year-old could soon be on his way to Newcastle United, who are apparently preparing a third bid.

If Wolves choose to make money on the former Celta Vigo player, they will be left in need of two centre-forwards before the September 1 deadline. According to Belgian transfer expert Sacha Tavolieri, Wolves are interested in signing a relatively unknown Nigerian talent.

Genk striker Wolves want to sign
Tolu Arokodare is reportedly a player that Wolves have already held talks with ahead of a potential formal offer.

Tavolieri suggests that the terms of a five-year contract have been agreed with the four-cap Nigerian international.

Woves are said to be ready to offer around €20 million for Arokodare, who was outstanding for Genk last season.

In total, he contributed 23 goals and seven assists in 45 games, and the player has 41 goals and 12 assists in 113 games during his time with the club.

He only has two years left on his contract, which could affect Genk when it comes to making a final decision.

Arokodare made his debut for Nigeria earlier this year and scored his first international goal against Russia in June.

Are there any similarities with Strand Larsen?
Since Arokodare has spent over two and a half years in Belgium, he is hardly a rookie and seems to have potential for improvement.

Furthermore, he is 193 cm tall, a similar height to Strand Larsen, but he has only three goals in 13 games in European competition, all of which came in qualifiers.

There would be no expectation that he could immediately replicate Strand Larsen’s impact at Wolves, but his physical stature would at least make him a threat in the airspace.

Wolves fans would expect a second striker to arrive in the West Midlands to compete with Arokodare if Strand Larsen leaves the club for the north of England.
