Bodø/Glimt have had an upward curve out in Europe since 2024. Albert Grønbæk “jumped out” halfway through this year to take the big step into Europe. Unfortunately for the Dane, it turns out that the big step was taken at Aspmyra. Not in Ligue 1, not in the Premier League, nor in Serie A. While Bodø/Glimt break new barriers in the Champions League, the 24-year-old is now in the Bundesliga without a debut. Before Christmas, Glimt supporters sent an invitation to Grønbæk to “come home”.

We really hope Grønbæk will succeed again in the match arena, but it is probably with mixed feelings that the player follows Bodø/Glimt’s journey of success out in Europe. Because while Patrick Berg and the gang are thundering to headlines in the world press, Grønbæk has enough to get back on the field. At Genoa on loan (from Rennes) in the first part of the season, he played 226 minutes on the pitch. After the transfer to Hamburger SV on loan from February, the 24-year-old is left without a debut.

Last week, it was reported that the Danish player is making another attempt to make his debut for Hamburger SV. After over three weeks on the sidelines with a thigh injury, he completed the entire team training on Tuesday.

We take a look back to the summer of 2024, when it was a brilliantly satisfied Grønbæk. The Danish player signed for Rennes in the summer of 2024 and faced the Danish press as a new national team player. Then he sent a lot of praise to Bodø/Glimt and the work that is done in the Eliteserien. This was the last time we saw a delighted Grønbæk.

In 2024, Albert Grønbæk “narrowed” down the door to his debut on the Danish national team. After the first matches with brilliant play, Danish journalists were almost in a state of shock: “What has happened to this player?!” What had “happened” was a stay with Bodø/Glimt and Kjetil Knutsen. A year and a half later, the 24-year-old has disappeared from one bench to another on club teams, while his ticket to the Danish national team has been withdrawn.

The choice of Rennes, Southampton and Genoa has not been a sporting success for Grønbæk. It looks impressive on the CV and the money flows into the salary account, but for a young player like Grønbæk, it is the time at Glimt with plenty of playing time, titles and joy of playing that provides lasting memories – and development. When we wrote before Christmas 2025 Albert Grønbæk realizes he has to do something after the Bodø/Glimt exit, with the Dane’s change of agent, there were quickly comments and reactions to the Facebook share. It is clear that Grønbæk is wanted back by Glimt supporters, here are some of the comments from December:

“He just has to do one thing! The most sensible. Come back to us Albert!”

“Come to Bodø, the team needs you.”

“Come to Glimt.”

“Have to hang on to the others, come home to Bodø and Glimt.”

“Miss in Glimt!”

“Missing in Glimt!”

“Go back to Bodø.”

“Come home to Bodø.”
