Alexander Isak scored 1-0 against Liverpool, incredibly liberating for the Swede – and all of Liverpool. The joy did not last many seconds. Liverpool won the game 1-2, but Isak had to be helped off the pitch. Iron man Micky van de Ven had made a tackle in connection with the goal, which is now costing Liverpool dearly.

It was a very annoyed Arne Slot who dismissed all theories that Alexander Isak’s injury was due to overload: “Most of the injuries we have are not related to overload. When you look at Alex’s injury, it has nothing to do with overloading the player. It was a reckless tackle attempt (from van de Ven). If you make such a tackle 10 times, there is a 10 times greater risk of the player being seriously injured,” Slot stated according to the BBC.

Needless to say, the Swede broke his leg and underwent surgery on Monday. The next day, Slot talks about the prospects ahead for the Swedish striker.

“No, it will be a long-term injury, a couple of months. It’s a big, big, big disappointment for him, and of course it is also for us,” says Arne Slot, according to the club’s website.

We wish good recovery. The 2025/26 season is all but over, now the focus must be on getting ready for a proper pre-season before the next one. This is what Isak and Liverpool need
