In 2022, Alexander Isak packed up, left Real Sociedad in the Basque Country and established himself in Newcastle. 109 games and 62 goals later, the Swede is back at the La Liga club he played 132 games for.

There is no return to his previous stint in La Liga, but outside of Newcastle’s preseason tour, with what has been reported as a slight thigh injury, Isak will have to make his preparations for the start of the season. The big question is what shirt he wears in mid-August.

Newcastle are fighting hard for there to be a continuation at St. James’ Park, Liverpool are working correspondingly hard for it to be Anfield, while the usual Saudi Arabian clubs are ready with their money bins.

It is Sky Sports who report Alexander Isak is on the training ground at Real Sociedad. Newcastle have reportedly been informed that Isak is in Spain, where he is said to be recovering from his injury. Surely good to get away from the ball island while the storm rages on the negotiation rooms.
