It has been quite a story for Alexander Sørloth this season. After a sparkling debut season in the Atletico Madrid shirt with 20 La Liga goals, this season surprisingly started with a long bench existence. Coach Simeone was not happy with Sørloth’s efforts, the Norwegian striker was heavily linked with an exit ahead of the winter transfer window. Then Sørloth gained confidence and showed to the degree what Atletico have in their Norwegian national team striker. With the utmost obviousness, the 30-year-old was again the big player of the match on Saturday.
Since January, Sørloth has saved points against Real Sociedad with the 1-1 score, secured three points against Alaves with a 1-0 win, scored against Mallorca in a 3-0 win, against Espanyol the striker secured three points at the weekend in the 4-2 win against Espanyol.

Espanyol shocked the Atletico supporters with a goal after only five minutes, but a quarter of an hour later, Sørloth was in the right place, at the right time at the back post and equalizing to 1-1. The goal gave Atletico back in control. Before the hour had been played and a 3-1 lead to Atletico, Sørloth was again in front with a bang.
Ruggeri hit a beautiful cross to Sørloth at the back post, with a beautiful header to what ended with a 4-2 victory.
