The Premier League champions are in Asia for pre-season and lost their first friendly 4-2 to AC Milan in Hong Kong. They play again on Wednesday against Yokohama F. Marinos in Japan, but will have to do without their first goalie.

As reported by James Pearce of The Athletic, among other journalists, the Brazilian was not present during Tuesday’s open training session and was given permission to leave the camp due to a personal matter.

When will Alisson return to Liverpool?
Alisson will therefore miss Liverpool’s last game in Japan at the Nissan Stadium, where new goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili is expected to get a chance between the sticks. Additional coverage comes from Freddie Woodman, Armin Pecsi and Kornel Misciur.

The former Roma goalkeeper is expected to return to the squad at the AXA Training Centre once the team is back in the UK for a double against Athletic Club at Anfield on Monday 4 August. Liverpool will face the Basque team at 17:00 before a second group of players meet on the pitch at 20:00.

Third player to leave the squad
He is the third player to leave Arne Slot’s squad, after Joe Gomez went home due to an Achilles injury and Luis Díaz said goodbye to complete a £65 million move to Bayern Munich. Díaz arrived in Munich on Tuesday for a medical test and contract signing.

There has been no official comment from either the club or the player about the reason for Alisson’s absence.

Liverpoll’s pre-season
after starting the pre-season with games against Championship sides Preston and Stoke City, Liverpool finish with the Community Shield final against Crystal Palace at Wembley on Sunday 10 August.

Official debuts could be given to new additions Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Miloš Kerkez, Mamardashvili and Hugo Ekitike, who have been signed for a total of £204 million in a massive transfer spree.

Still chasing Isak
The Reds are still working on a mega task to sign Newcastle striker Alexander Isak and are expected to make a bid for the Swedish player, who has not travelled with the Magpies on their Asia tour.
